Jon&Coo Inc. — J-Times Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the J-Times Japanese culture media platform (website j-times.org and mobile application, collectively the "Service") operated by Jon&Coo Inc. ("the Company", "we", "us").

1. Definitions & Applicability

  1. "User" means any individual or entity that views or uses the Service.
  2. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
  3. We may amend these Terms at any time. Amendments take effect upon publication.

2. Description of Service

  1. The Service includes:
    • Article (text and image) browsing
    • Podcast (audio content) listening
    • Video content viewing
    • Bookmark, like, and comment features
    • Premium content (paid subscription)
    • MTC reward system (points awarded for content consumption)
  2. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service without prior notice.

3. Account Registration

  1. Some content may be browsed without an account. Features like bookmarks and comments require registration.
  2. You must keep registration information accurate. Account security is your responsibility.
  3. Minors require parental consent.

4. Premium Plans & Subscriptions

  1. Premium plan pricing is displayed inclusive of tax on each plan page.
  2. Payment method: Credit Card (Stripe).
  3. Payment timing: Immediate at sign-up. Auto-renewed on the renewal date.
  4. Cancellation: Available anytime from your account. Cancellation before the day prior to renewal prevents further charges.
  5. No prorated refunds are provided.

5. MTC Reward System

  1. MTC points may be awarded when you consume content (e.g., podcasts) above a specified completion threshold.
  2. Point earning conditions, usage, and expiry are determined by us separately.
  3. Fraudulent point acquisition may result in point forfeiture and account suspension.

6. Intellectual Property

  1. Articles, podcasts, videos, images, and designs in the Service are owned by us or our licensors.
  2. Reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use beyond personal use is prohibited.
  3. Copyright in user-submitted comments/reviews remains with the user, but you grant us a license to use them for service operation.

7. Prohibited Conduct

  • Violation of laws or public order
  • Unauthorized reproduction, redistribution, or resale of content
  • Scraping, automated access, or system disruption
  • Harassment or defamation of other users
  • False account registration
  • Fraudulent MTC point acquisition

8. Privacy

Personal information is handled per our Privacy Policy.

9. Advertising

The Service contains native ads and sponsored content. Advertising content is labeled ("Ad", "PR", "Sponsored") to clearly distinguish it from editorial content.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness, or timeliness of content. Articles and information are for general reference and do not substitute professional advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

  1. We are not liable for indirect, special, consequential, or incidental damages, including lost profits.
  2. Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid by you in the preceding 12 months.

12. Exclusion of Antisocial Forces

You represent that you are not a member of organized crime groups. We may terminate your account upon violation.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

  1. These Terms are governed by Japanese law.
  2. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.

Payment Methods

Delivery Timing
Digital content: Delivered immediately after payment.
Subscription Cancellation
Cancel anytime from account settings. No charges after cancellation before next renewal date. No prorated refunds.

Latest versions of major browsers (Chrome/Edge/Safari/Firefox). iOS/Android apps per store requirements.
Cooling-Off Period
The cooling-off period does not apply to mail-order transactions under Japanese law.
